Course Content

Aim

To deliver competence-based training and assessment that will lead to the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (2382-22). This qualification includes Amendment 2, which was introduced in March 2022.

Pre-requisites

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although all candidates must be over 16 years old.

The course is primarily aimed at those involved with the design, installation or testing of electrical installations, including practicing electricians & allied professionals such as contracts managers, designers, electrical engineers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.

Course Duration

The course is of three days in duration.

Optimum Number

Maximum of 8 candidates per course.

Course Language

The course is delivered in English; therefore, candidates must have a good standard of both written and verbal English.

Courses can be delivered in other languages however; this would need to be discussed prior to acceptance on the course. It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to make Roxby aware of this requirement.

Assessment

On the final afternoon of the course, candidates undertake a City & Guilds online examination, multiple choice format of 60 questions in 2 hours. The exam is ‘open-book’ in that candidates are required to use the current IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations book for the duration of the exam.

Course Objectives

The course will allow candidates to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of BS 7671:2018 +A2:2022

Upon successful completion of the online exam, candidates will be issued with a nationally recognised City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (2382-22). This includes the Amendment 2 which was introduced in March 2022.

Amendment 2 – introduces a new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs), updated requirements for the fire safety design for buildings, and a new chapter on Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations.
