Course Content

CompEx is the national training and assessment scheme for electrotechnical craft personnel who work in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as on-and off-shore petrochemical plants, distilleries, petrol forecourt environments and flour mills.

CompEx is a national joint training initiative developed and implemented by the Engineering Equipment and Material Users Association (EEMUA) and JTL, and is supported by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

JTL who are the National training agent for the Electrical contracting industry has been appointed to develop, operate and manage the training provision across the UK and has licensed and accredited a number of centres to deliver the training and assessment.

Aim

The Recognised Practitioners Programme (RPP) intends to deliver competence-based training and assessment in the selection, use, maintenance, and inspection of electrical apparatus in potentially explosive atmospheres in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 60079 series relevant standards.

On completion of the assessments, these are sent to the awarding body JTL for marking and if successful the candidates shall be issued with a CompEx Ex01RPP-Ex04RPP Certificate of Core Competency.

Pre-requisites

Candidates will have completed the initial 5-day CompEx course or CompEx Refresher course and held the certificate no longer than 5 years.

The course assessments are conducted both in the centre test bay facilities and also the classroom, as follows:

Ex01RPP Glanding Exercise  Assessment Bay Facility

Ex02RPP & Ex04RPP Inspections Assessment Bay Facility

Online Assessments  Classroom based (one laptop per candidate)

Course Duration

The course is 3 days in duration.

Optimum Number

A maximum of 8 candidates per course.

Course Language

The course is delivered in English. Therefore, candidates must have a good standard of both written and verbal English.

Courses can be delivered in other languages; however, this would need to be discussed prior to acceptance on the course. It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to make Roxby aware of this requirement.
